Battle of the turtles is on! Today had round 2 of my turtle quest. After my quest to turtle house, today I visited Kin Turtle Soup at Lavender Food Court. Kin Turtle Soup used to be located at the Lagoon Food Centre at East Coast Park but they relocated quite a while back. Not sure if they moved to Lavender food court immediately after leaving Lagoon but they've been here for quite a few years already. The uncle in the picture is very friendly and speaks good english, so no hassle when ordering food. Haha.

Short wait later and the uncle delivered the good stuff. Piping hot and ready to eat! Unlike Turtle House, the soup here has a stronger herbal taste. You also do not taste or smell the strong turtle smell, the smell can put people off, just like for some other strong odoured meats like lamb.

Turtle tends to have a slightly chewy texture, I think most places are the same. Haven't eaten tender turtle before. You also get the jelly like cartilage stuff which is soft and slippery. Not much taste to it though. It's like slightly chewy agar agar.

The good thing about this place? The uncle is nice and friendly, when I asked for a top up of soup I passed him an empty bowl and he filled it up to the brim! Extra serving of yummy soup! The cheapest bowl of soup here costs $10, which is $4 cheaper than Turtle House. You can have yam rice or normal rice. The yam rice is quite delicious I must say, more flavour and a bit sticky. If I had to compare between the two shops, I'd say this is a better Turtle soup stall. Prefer the herbal taste and less turtle odour. More value for money anyway. They also serve crocodile meat if anyone is interested.
More turtle soup reviews to follow? Maybe maybe...
